The 13 Holy Nights  

Merry Christmas and all the Best To Y'allI would like to share this exciting ritual with you that I found out about by none other than the legendary Dr Christian Northrup  (One of my most important mentors throughout the yearsI accredit a lot of my growth and becoming to her work, and presence, personally and professionallyDr. Northrup, thank you forever! )

The 13 Holy Nights

From Dec 24-January 6, 2016 are a profound opportunity to tap into your inner wisdom and plant the seeds for a healthy and healed New Year.

Here are the steps

Dec 21-24-- make a "nest" in your heart during the solstice. Where you plant the seeds of light inside you. Get a new journal , some candles, and oracle decks of your choice
Dec 24--the first Holy Night. At sunset, light a candle, draw a couple oracle cards of your choice. For the next 24 hours, until sunset on Dec 25, play attention to your dreams, your activities, who you meet. This first 24 hours portends the entire year of 2016.
Each subsequent night at sunset, light another candle and draw more cards as oracles. Each 24 hour period represents one month of 2016. So-- Dec 25-26 is January. Dec 26-27 is Feb, etc. Until you get all the way to January 6 when you are finished.

Each day, write down your dreams, the things you did, and the people you meet. Each will have significance for the coming year. Keep that journal close at hand in 2016. And each month, go back and see what you wrote for the Holy Night that represented that day. You'll be amazed at the inner guidance that comes through.

Green lemonade is the Cadillac of juicing recipes. This is my take on the beloved classic. The juice is a little sweet (thanks to the apple) and a little spicy (gracias to the ginger). The natural bitterness of leafy greens is cut by a bright squeeze of lemon. You can use almost any type of leafy green in place of chard or kale. Romaine, baby spinach, collard, bok choy, broccoli—you name it! In fact, I love adding broccoli stems to this recipe. Get creative. This juice is a perfect vehicle for all of your greenest fridge scraps.
Classic Green Lemonade
Classic Green Lemonade
Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)

2 stalks celery
1 small cucumber
1 apple, cored and seeded
1-inch piece ginger, peeled
3 leaves Swiss chard or kale
½ lemon, peeled
  1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
  2. Juice all ingredients.
This immunity-boosting beverage is all about vitamin C, which may also help to prevent high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Win-win! I love the purple-haze color that red cabbage lends to this sweet-spicy juice, but green cabbage is a fine replacement if you don’t have red on hand.

Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)

1 cucumber
4 stalks celery
2 small apples, cored and seeded
1½ cups red cabbage
1-inch piece of ginger, peeled
  1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
  2. Juice all ingredients.
Blueberries aren't just a delicious way to sweeten your smoothies (and give them a gorgeous, deep blue hue). They're also powerful brain boosters. In clinical studies, blueberries have been associated with increased cognitive function, including memory improvement, and they may also help to protect your brain from oxidative stress, lessening the risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts are also associated with cognitive protection, and a possible mood lift: omega-3's are thought to help fight depression. Who knew there could be so much power in your glass? (You did!).

Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)

1/2 banana, frozen
1 1/2 cups blueberries, frozen
1 1/2 cups almond milk or nondairy milk of choice
2 tablespoons walnuts, chopped
1 cup kale, leaves only, tightly packed
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
  2. Blend and serve.
“Get your chai on!” as Oprah would say. This recipe is sweet, spicy, and all-around divine. It's wonderful blended up with fresh banana and greens, and it also pairs well with tropical fruits. For a creamy evening treat, warm a cup over the stovetop, sprinkle with cinnamon, and sip to your heart's content.

Cashew Chai Milk
Yields 3 1/4 Cups

1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2 hours, rinsed, and drained
1/2-inch piece ginger, peeled
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup
3 1/4 cups water
  1. In a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients till creamy and smooth. Store in an airtight container for up to three days in the fridge.

THE NEW NOBILITY


The tawny gold of the first chantrelle
beneath the rough wall of fir bark,
a gleam in the undergrowth
to ignite the eye and ennoble the imagination.
Everyone is waiting for breakfast
to which I bring this husk and this holiness
of the newly grown and the newly found.

White plates are laid along the table,
on each of them the omelettes
rest steaming, deep and rich,
the eggs brought from a friend's farm,
the chantrelles nested firmly
in their hot buttered interiors,
and the basil flecked
through them, plucked from the last
tangy stems of a summer garden.

Perfection is a fragile, ice-thin ground
that barely holds our human weight,
one false step and everything cracks
black to the edge. In this perfection
no one dares mention the waters
of the Saratoga Passage shining through glass.
No one mentions our present happiness;
though the last dead century of grief
and misery has barely dropped from our grasp.

Outside the window, the children are playing
in borrowed clothes. One throws
back her head, sleeves trailing on the ground
and laughs in the sunlight,
and we laugh in witness, for in the midst of history
we are happy like them and all before them.

Cooking and Love

Cooking is an expression of love.
Sharing a meal, lunch, breakfast, dinner with someone is also a form of love.
Taking someone you really like to share a meal, is a form of intrigue, a privilege--and easily can be the beginning of love.
When the modern dating smarts demean it to mean everything but that, well you can look around yourself, your life and [socially conditioned] attitude and approach to dating, and you will find all your values will be laid out like your outfit for work, the night before.
What did you find?
Is it pleasing?
Is it what you want, what makes you happy and turned on?
It should be.
It was just yesterday I thought of a modern day dating guru. A man. Extremely charming, and great looking--teaching woman how to get, keep and turn on a guy.
There is absolutely nothing personal and let me say attractive, nor attracting in there. IT is more manipulative, and did not have any sensory feeling of being awakened.
How much more pleasurable is it to be awakened by the 'like' and intrigue one feels for someone else, and pursue that call simply.

Are Bikini/Figure Competitions really the answer to cure Eating Disorders?

This is for the ladies in mind, but the gent's are also invited to read and reflect.

This morning I was prompted by a post on Eating Disorders, it was in connection to the Bikini/Figure Competitions, whose season is now in full effect.

To be very clear, Bikini/Figure Competitions are NOT cure for Eating Disorders, far from it.  You may feel like it as you are getting close to contest day and you SEE the results and are feeling good about what your mirror reflects and the 'Like's you receive on social media.

Eating Disorders are the RESULT, the EFFECT of some underlying MAJOR, if not complete disconnect of the self from the Self.  It is the disintegration of one's whole being/existence at the mental, soul and physical level.   Contest Prep is like highest flammable oil one self-volitionally pours over the already lit fires--one desperately, yet foolishly attempted to control for some while.....

We have an entire industry (that is blowing up), built around this and more.
Why?
Why do we bring about more disorders and glorify it?
Why?
And claim, 'you look great!'
Yes, on stage.  Maybe.  And, from the distance.  And on images....
In reality, no. It is not pretty, it is not normal, it is not natural. It is not alive, it is not at peace, it is not happy, it is not prosperous, it is not fulfilling.

You can have it all, but you have to know what you are doing, and most importantly WHY!!!!  It may take a more frustrating, far from the mainstream 'how to'
But as you commit and follow it through your results will be beautiful, healing and healthy.......

Do You Meditate?



I was reminded today, x 3 at least, of the power of MEDITATION.  I have to be honest, the past couple of weeks I put it off, more than I practiced it.  I was 'busy' and had a LOT on my plate.  I got caught up.  It is the very process of life, that keeps us close, just to release us, allowing us to leave onto our path of life.  Only to call us back in, and remember. 

I started feeling off, and was LOOKING FOR something, 'outside' of me, to "HELP"  Important to note, how our EGO is always here to help. What a reliable companion on our path.

MEDITATION is the cure for most things.  MEDITATION may not be the ONLY answer, but it is a HUGE part of the RIGHT answer-for us all.  Sometimes I forget, or not choose to practice.  But when I remember, and do, I am quickly reminded of it's value, WHY I do it, and am I ever thankful.

MEDITATION is best in silence, and being still. But we can make it an active meditation, like walking, knitting, running, working out, in a state you are zoned in with your WHY.
